Hamilton County VINELink Coverage
VINE is Tennessee’s custody-event notification layer, and VINELink is its public search and registration path. HCSO Corrections links VINE for Hamilton County custody. TDOC reports that all 95 Tennessee county jails participated through the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association before state correctional custody joined the system in 2021. That gives Hamilton County jail and TDOC cases a shared notification environment, but they remain separate reporting agencies.
Search a person rather than a release list. A result may reflect current custody, a transfer, release, or another event supported by the reporting agency. The exact released label and display period can differ, and the static official sources do not promise one universal wording or permanent archive. VINELink does not cover the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a substitute for the BOP Inmate Locator. It also does not turn a court event into physical release proof. The named custodian remains responsible for confirming the event.
Search Hamilton County VINELink Records
Begin with the person’s full name and any known offender identifier. Approximate age, date of birth information, HCSO SPN, booking date, TDOC number, and agency history can help separate similar names. Names alone are not enough. Hamilton County’s court disclaimer makes the same point about online identity matching.

- Review all matches. Compare the reporting agency, identifier, age or birth details, and custody information.
- Open only the record that matches the known Hamilton County or TDOC facts. Do not merge two similar people.

Record each field as shown and avoid converting a future eligibility date into an actual release date.

A VINE “released” event is strong evidence that the reporting custodian changed the person’s status. It does not exclude same-day transfer, a detainer, or a new custody event elsewhere. If HCSO reports a transfer to TDOC, compare the identity in FOIL. If the event names another county facility, follow that custodian.
Note: Preserve the full event wording and agency because “released” from one system does not always mean return to the community.
Register Hamilton County Release Alerts
Register from the matched person’s record. TDOC describes VINE notifications as free and confidential, with phone, email, text, TTY, or app channels offered as available. The live form determines which methods can be selected for that record. Registration details should be kept private, and the offender and agency identifiers should be saved for later support calls.

- Choose each contact channel offered by the current Tennessee form.
- Enter the phone number, email address, or other requested contact details carefully.
- Complete the onscreen verification. Create and confirm a PIN or code only if the live form requests one.
- Save the person’s offender ID, reporting agency, and registration details in a secure place.
- Test or verify delivery if the interface offers that option, and update contact information when it changes.
No current official static Tennessee source reviewed for this project requires a PIN for every notification method. Traditional phone registrations may use one, but the correct instruction is to follow the live confirmation prompts or call support. Do not invent a PIN step that the displayed channel does not request.
An alert supports timely follow-up. It is not a substitute for direct agency contact when safety is urgent or when event language is ambiguous. Note the event, agency, and time before making the confirming call.
Confirm Hamilton VINELink Release Events
For a Hamilton County jail event, call the Hamilton County Jail & Detention Center at 423-209-7125 and ask for the release date, time, type, and destination. Request the HCSO booking and release record when documentation is needed. The current inmate search can show continued HCSO custody, but a missing name does not prove release.
For a state case, use TDOC FOIL. Match the TDOC number, photo where available, date of birth information, offense, county, and sentence. “Incarcerated” points to state custody. “Parole” or “probation” identifies community supervision. “Inactive” requires reading the full sentence and release information or requesting archived material. FOIL’s Release Eligibility Date is an eligibility field, not a promised departure date.
Federal and immigration custody are separate. Use the BOP Inmate Locator for federal prisoners and ICE’s locator for current or recent ICE custody. No public USMS historical release locator comparable to BOP was found. A VINELink absence does not rule out any of those systems.
Hamilton Custody VINE Versus Courts
Hamilton County has two distinct VINE layers. Statewide custody VINE and VINELink handle jail and prison custody events. Live custody support is available at 888-868-4631. Hamilton’s court system separately links VINE Courts and gives 1-866-277-7477 for criminal-case notifications.
Use custody VINE for release, transfer, and other custody changes tied to a matched person. Use VINE Courts when a hearing, continuance, bond setting, filing, or disposition notice is needed. Registration may be needed in both systems because one does not replace the other.
A court notice can explain why a custody change may occur. It cannot independently establish the moment HCSO or TDOC processed the release. Pair a court event with a custody notification or direct record before reporting actual departure.
Hamilton Jail To TDOC Alerts
A person can generate sequential VINE events after leaving Hamilton County Jail for TDOC. The first event documents departure from HCSO’s reporting custody. A later TDOC record documents state placement. That sequence is a transfer, not a brief community release between facilities.

None should be silently recast as an ordinary community release.
Call the reporting custodian when the event is unclear. For HCSO, ask whether the person left on bond, time served, sentence completion, court order, or transfer. If a receiving agency is named, search that system with the same identity details. For TDOC, compare FOIL status and location, then seek the release authorization or discharge record when formal proof is needed.
Keep the saved alert even if the person no longer appears in a later search. VINE does not publish a guaranteed post-release display period.
